Poem, document, archive, memory: Comparative aspects with a focus on current Galician poetry

Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the tradition of documentary poetry, or docupoetry, initiated among others by Muriel Rukeyser in the United States, and its connection to some of the immediate questions that have received increasing attention in current literary studies. These include issues of the archive (Foucault, Derrida), the history and the memory (Benjamin, Ricoeur, Nora, Bal), and the regimes of historicity (Hartog). All this is applied to contemporary Galician poetry and the convergence of the poem with photography. Particular attention is paid to the work of Emilio Araúxo, Margarita Ledo and Luísa Villalta.
