Summary/Abstract: This review examines Robert-Simion Luca’s doctoral thesis on communist anti-monarchical propaganda in Romania, highlighting its contribution to understanding how the monarchy was depicted in historical narratives under the regimes of Gheorghiu-Dej and Ceaușescu. The book traces the evolution of portrayals of Romania’s four kings — Carol I, Ferdinand I, Carol II, and Mihai I — primarily in historical literature, identifying both ideological distortions and moments of partial rehabilitation. The volume offers a solid contribution to the study of how historical narratives were shaped by the political interests of the communist regime, using the monarchy as a revealing case study.
