Summary/Abstract: In this article we analyse a selection of contemporary Spanish press texts, exploring the ideological stances toward Judeo-Spanish. The study examines how this language is represented in the discursive imaginary, identifying elements of linguistic subordination that portray it as a dependent and degraded variety of Spanish. These representations are rooted in Pidalian ideologies and can also be integrated into the ideological framework of Pan-Hispanism – a contemporary project of cultural and linguistic expansion that employs Judeo-Spanish as a symbolic resource to reinforce the identity of hispanidad.
