Summary/Abstract: The learning of the Romanian language within the Preparatory Year Program for Romanian Language for Foreign Citizens (APLR) is conducted in accordance with European standards, as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The courses are structured to provide foreign students with the linguistic competencies necessary for effective communication in Romanian. Through teaching activities and assessments, students have acquired the vocabulary and grammatical structures essential for interacting confidently in various social contexts. With a diverse curriculum, students have explored not only the linguistic aspects of the Romanian language but also its cultural dimension, thereby strengthening their understanding of the Romanian world. In this article, I will analyze the linguistic errors made by foreign students within the Preparatory Year Program for Romanian Language for Foreign Citizens (APLR), through the lens of Py and Masiewicz’s interlanguage theory. I will focus on both oral and written productions of the students, identifying deviations from the standard Romanian linguistic norm and examining how these may influence the effectiveness of intercultural communication. The research corpus consists of the works produced by students during the Romanian as a foreign language courses.
