Summary/Abstract: This paper addresses the multifaceted impact of AI on ESP-based language learning environments. Increasingly present in education through a wide array of tools – AI powered learning platforms, virtual tutors, speaking tools, chatbots, customized feedback systems – AI technology is both prized for enhancing foreign language learning, but also questioned for generating over-reliance on technology, lack of equity and lack of students’ engagement. This paper researches and presents a case study showing relevant data on students’ individual patterns of approaching and using AI tools for academic ESP tasks. In assessing the popularity and influence of such tools on students’ training process, the directions followed in this paper aim to reveal students’ understanding of AI tools general usage, the frequency of use, its impact on learning, creativity and originality, as well as some ethical considerations. The beneficiary target group consists of first-year Economics students from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania, majoring in Business Administration and Finance and Banking.
