Summary/Abstract: The article considers the concept of «manipulation» from the point of view of various scientific approaches in the context of the historical development ofsociety. Various methods of political manipulation (within its connection with propaganda as social and political phenomenon) and the directions of its influence on society are investigated, both in peacetime and during wartime, from its origins to the present.
