Summary/Abstract: Naturalism, as advocated by Willard Van Orman Quine, has become a prominent feature of contemporary philosophy and has significantly influenced the way philosophers approach various issues. This doctrine, with its emphasis on scientific methodology and the rejection of traditional philosophical approaches, is reflected in the assertion that there is no philosophical perspective from which we could assess or justify our scientific theories. Instead, we must "work from within" our current scientific worldview, using the tools and methods of science to solve philosophical problems. Such an approach to philosophy and science has significant implications not only for our understanding of language, mind, and knowledge, but also for the future of philosophy itself. In this paper, we will argue that Quine's naturalism, while offering valuable insights, in its quest for a scientific foundation, overlooks or rejects key philosophical questions. This leads to an incomplete and potentially problematic understanding of ourselves and the world around us, as well as to scientism as an ultimately problematic philosophical position.
