Summary/Abstract: In the first part of the text, an understanding of the term religiology (Ger. Religionswissenschaften) is presented, as well as its correlation with other scientific fields, especially with the philosophy of religion. We have briefly highlighted the significance and uniqueness of myth in the religious, but also in the philosophical discourse. Then, in the continuation of the paper, the genesis and development of Milenko A. Perović's writing interest in the concept of myth and mythology. On that occasion, it was detected that this was a period that began in the 1990s and lasted until the end of his life. During the aforementioned period, Perović’s works were mainly created for teaching needs in the educational process at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, but in addition, scholarly studies and monographs were presented that went beyond standard textbook content. In many of his works from this period, the concept of myth finds its place both sporadically and as part of in-depth philosophical reflection. When it comes to myth, we noticed that in Perović’s scientific discourse there is a religiological perspective, less known in our region. In this context, Milenko A. Perović engages with and interprets Eliade’s understanding of myth and time, attributing to it a philosophical dimension within the academic field that we call historical religiology. Therefore, in the end, we tried to point out the connection between Perović’s understanding of myth and historical religiology.
