Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on analyzing the concept of other spaces that transcend the traditional understanding of places within an anthropological context. Its core idea revolves around two key concepts: Marc Augé’s non‑places and Michel Foucault’s heterotopias. The authors compare these approaches, examining the differences between spaces devoid of identity, relations, and history, and spaces with distinct social and symbolic functions. The study highlights the importance of individual experiences in relation to space, emphasizing the connections between places and the process of identity formation. To this end, it introduces the perspective of social psychology, discussing the dynamics of other spaces, such as airports, gated communities, and cemeteries. The research cited in the study suggests that even spaces considered anonymous can acquire meaning through subjective interactions with their users. The authors also underscore the potential of an interdisciplinary approach to the study of spaces, integrating psychology, anthropology, and urban studies.
