Summary/Abstract: This article examines the methods of utilizing trees in traditional Baltic medicine based on the information found in the source text Deliciae Prussicae oder Preussische Schaubühne by Matthaeus Praetorius. This 17th-century work is an extensive text that encompasses historical, religious, and cultural aspects of Baltic peoples, from which the authors have selected issues related to sylvotherapy. A particular focus of interest will be two illustrations included by the author in the text, depicting therapeutic methods involving passing sick individuals through holes in trees. The aim of the discussion is to present rituals traditionally associated with paganism in the context of sylvotherapy and to compare them with other, similar practices from different parts of Europe.
