Summary/Abstract: The prepositions od (from) and do (to) primarily serve to express spatial relations, and their mutual relationship is, in principle, of a binary character. The preposition od belongs to the ablative type, functioning as a marker of spatial relation and denoting the starting point of movement. Conversely, the preposition do, while sharing the same fundamental spatial function of marking relational boundaries, designates the endpoint or limit of movement. When combined with a noun in the genitive case, these prepositions form prepositional-case constructions which, in addition to spatial meaning, may also convey causal and consequential meanings. For the purposes of this study, the analysis was conducted on a corpus of texts representing both the literary-artistic and administrative functional styles, with the aim of obtaining a clearer insight into the semantic and functional values of these two prepositions in expressing causal and consequential relations.
