TIN KNIGHTS AND COPPER LADIES: THE STRANGE PHENOMENON OF AI RELATIONSHIPS AND POSSIBLE LEGAL TROUBLES

Summary/Abstract: Back in the year 2022 AI became a reality, the once fabled notion invented by science-fiction authors such as Philip K. Dick and Isaac Asimov became a functional tool. In this strange turn history chose to take, many jobs and even whole sectors of the job market remain under threat of extinction. Another unexpected result of such innovations is the appearance of mental conditions and peculiarities in some humans. We have the first real life cases of AI induced psychosis and we even have certain humans that create deep relationships towards AI generated programs which are akin to friendship or even romance. These strange times force us, legal scholars, to ponder about the future. Are such amorous relationships a possibility or should we not even entertain such a notion? In this article we will try to unravel both hypothesis in order to help the future legislators that may be confronted with such dilemmas.
