Summary/Abstract: The ”Sinatra” Doctrine's geopolitical influence on the fall of Eastern European socialism is still regarded as one of the most important developments of the 20th century. This paper revisits some of the questions regarding Gorbachev's misperceptions of international issues, his vision of how an empire can survive a deep crisis, the relationship between the Soviet Union and eastern socialist countries, etc., even though the topic has already been the subject of many studies and books. Some of the most widespread misunderstandings about this subject are cleared up in this article.
