EDITIONS OF THE MOUNTAIN WREATH FROM 1951. TO 2000.

Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the most significant editions of Petar Petrović Njegoš’s The Mountain Wreath printed in the second half of the twentieth century. The main focus in on determining crucial editorial, cultural, educational and national aspects in the fifty-year publishing presentation of the greatest poetic work of Serbian literature. The most significant editions of the great poem are highlighted, followed by individual editions, their editors and commentaries. Emphasizing or suppressing the pronounced national character of The Mountain Wreath has emerged as an important subject of inquiry, through which it is possible to understand the fate of the author and his work as well as the language, culture, and people whose The Mountain Wreath is a symbol.
