Summary/Abstract: The relevance of the topic as well as the selection of the geographical area is justified by the current state of Hungarian research on the Roman Age Barbaricum. In contrary to the Sarmatian settlement area, there has been no recent systematic evaluation and publication of settlement find materials from the territory of the North Hungarian Mountains. The Hernád Valley belonged to the settlement area of the Przeworsk culture, spreading over Northern Hungary from the 2nd century AD. Beside Hungarian archaologists, the research of this cultural complex involves colleagues from Romania, Slovakia as well as the Ukraine. An important goal of the dissertation was to give a detailed presentation and evaluation of the archaeological material of a geographical region, which has been quite unknown so far for both Hungarian and foreign research, in order to complement our present knowledge of the era.
