Summary/Abstract: In the context of global socio-economic changes, education is becoming a key driver of sustainable transition and the development of the green economy. Transition countries face challenges in modernizing their educational systems to meet the needs of the labor market and the demands of sustainable development. This paper analyzes the state of primary, secondary, and higher education in selected transition countries, with a particular focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the research is to provide a comparative overview of the structure, quality, and alignment of educational policies with contemporary concepts of sustainability. Using secondary data from international organizations and relevant national sources, the paper examines the relationship between educational reforms and the processes of green and digital transformation. The results indicate that countries with an integrated approach to education for sustainable development demonstrate a higher level of readiness for green transition and an innovative economy. In the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a clear need to strengthen institutional capacities, align curricula with green competencies, and enhance cooperation between educational institutions, the business sector, and local communities. It is concluded that education, as the foundation of social capital, plays a crucial role in shaping generations capable of leading the processes of sustainable transition and environmentally responsible development.
