Summary/Abstract: The study of the household and residential complex of the village of Cunicea revealed that the architectural appearance of the village, its external space, although it bears noticeable features of integration of Moldovan folk culture, is characterized by its original constructive elements (stone vaulted cellars under the house, podtashek, ganki, etc.). The interior space also bears its own characteristics reflecting the Russian ethnic specificity, where the importance of such symbolic centres of attraction as ovens grubka and icons (home iconostasis), which are the embodiment of the ‘ethnic expressiveness’ of the lipovans of the village of Cunicea, stands out. The fragility of materials (adobe technology) of the materials (adobe technique) used for construction in Cunicea did not allow to keep intact the main part of dwelling houses older than a hundred years, the remaining residential buildings were subjected to thorough restoration, which reduced the original traditional attributes. At the same time, the research has shown that despite the aggressive influence of urbanization processes, the lipovans of the Republic of Moldova in Cunicea at the present day continue to use the principles of traditional construction, reconstructing the originality of the former lipovan manor house.
