Summary/Abstract: The main concept of this chapter1 is not secularization – as it is used in the usual2 (or sociological)3 sense. Secularization is generally defined as “the process by which sectors of society and culture are removed from the domination of religious institutions and symbols”, “withdrawal of religion from the public sphere into the private one”, “changing the system of values and norms”, or “creating a society of non-religious values and secular institutions” as “a part of social mod¬ ernization and rationalization.”
