Summary/Abstract: Energy communities and related forms of citizen energy are instruments that can facilitate the integration of local renewable sources into the electricity system, reduce energy costs and strengthen resilience at the local level. In Poland, a legal framework for these solutions has been in place for several years, but the scale of implementation remains limited. The main obstacles are regulatory, organisational and institutional in nature, rather than technological. The article presents the most important barriers and indicates measures that may become a lever for the development of energy communities.
