Summary/Abstract: Although the initial attempts to develop the railway sector in Türkiye began during the late Ottoman period, the nationwide expansion of the railway network was implemented during the early Republican era. The railway network and the associated industrial facilities played a pivotal role in shaping urban identities. While these facilities hold significant cultural heritage value due to their reflection of various parameters—such as the architecture, technology, construction methods, and sociocultural structure of the period in which they were built—they are not sufficiently recognized today. The risk of losing these culturally valuable structures and failing to transmit them to future generations has been identified as the main research problem. This study focuses on the registered Cer lodgings constructed between 1930 and 1956 within the Sivas railway campus, which significantly contributed to the formation of the city’s identity. The fact that some of these lodgings are currently abandoned has been a determining factor in selecting the study area. The study adopts a qualitative methodology, structured in three phases: literature review, fieldwork, and analysis of the current state. Limited scientific resources and data obtained from institutional archives were supported by on-site observations, photographic documentation, and interviews, resulting in a comprehensive documentation study. These lodgings, which guided the modernization process and housing identity of Sivas during the early Republican period, serve as witnesses to the architectural character and social culture of that era. It is crucial to raise awareness on academic platforms to ensure the preservation of the authenticity of this cultural heritage and its transmission to future generations.
