Summary/Abstract: This study aims to examine the use of local cultural elements and historical figures in animation cinema. The main assumption of the research is that the animation industry contributes to the preservation and transmission of cultural identity by creatively integrating folkloric, mythological, symbolic, and historical components into its narratives. In this context, animation is considered not merely a medium of entertainment but also an effective channel for conveying cultural heritage to future generations and fostering intercultural communication. The representations of local cultural motifs and historical characters in selected animated productions were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The samples were determined through a purposeful sampling method, focusing on national and international animated films that best represent the research universe. The findings indicate that many countries, including Türkiye, frequently employ local cultural themes and historical figures in their animation industries. Accordingly, this study aims to contribute to the existing literature by highlighting the role of cultural representation in animation and providing a scholarly Turkish-language reference for future research on the subject.
