Summary/Abstract: Turkmen, who have a steppe culture living in the lands of Asia Minor, have managed to survive their way of life, beliefs, and practices as in the lands of the Turkish provinces. The iron-processing, animal-feeding, and warrior-shepherd characteristics of the Turks have always been at the forefront. In this context, to sustain their economy, the Oghuzs were engaged in animal husbandry depending on the geographical conditions, which affected their way of thinking and lifestyle. The nomadic lifestyle rendered animals and animal husbandry economically significant. In the historical course, a professional group that protects, feeds, and manages animals emerged, and the phenomenon of shepherding was formed. Linguistic data and archaeological elements bear the traces of the belief-oriented shepherd cult. The word çoban (shepherd) has taken its place in archaic and contemporary dialects of the Turkish language. The Persian word galaban means "çoban, sığırtmaç, shûbân. (shepherd, cowman, herdsman)" Turkish Dictionary defines a person who herds and grazes flocks of sheep, goats, cattle, and water buffaloes as Çulpan. The Compilation Dictionary has analysed it in two forms. This study focuses on Çobansalık, which was formed in the context of plateau culture and shepherding by Begdili Turkmens who migrated from Turkmenistan to the Hotamış neighborhood of the Karapınar district of the Konya province. It aims to reflect the shepherd phenomenon's impact on the lifestyle of Beğdili Turkmens. The origins and meanings of the word "shepherd," as well as its representation in Turkish and world mythologies, are discussed. Based on information gathered from written sources, data collected through interviews were analyzed using cultural analysis. While çobansalik and Tol are shown in the figure, their differences are mentioned.
