Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between the form and meaning of certain types of complex predicates, with two criteria chosen: (a) predicates with the functional verb imati in a model with an accusative complement; (b) predicates with the predicative noun razgovor in several different grammatical patterns. The aim of the paper is to show that, in the analyzed type of constructions, the regulator of meaning is the noun, with the governing verb predominantly playing a modifying role. We conducted this research based on the principles of cognitive linguistics and constructional grammar. Furthermore, in the paper we have tried to point out that the transition from the basic constructional meaning to the target one is realized through various metaphorical scenarios, the most common of which are personification, substantialization and orientation.
