Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with a special group of texts which belong to the periphery of school literature. This genre appeared at the end of the 18th century and disappeared during the 1820s. It includes invitations to public examinations, teaching programs, public speeches on the occasion of exams and school celebrations, regulative texts for school sector, etc. Our corpus includes about 30 such texts, which are a unique source of information about everyday life of Serbs in Austria after the great school reform in the monarchy carried out in the 1770s. They testify that Serbs had a uniform educational system with a standardized programme and textbooks, as well as a qualified teaching staff. The role of the Serbian church in the creation and preservation of education for Serbian children and youth is also highlighted.
