Application of artificial intelligence in the development of thematic tour guiding routes

Summary/Abstract: The paper explores the potential of using artificial intelligence in the development of thematic tour guide routes within the context of tourism education at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". A specific case study is presented, focusing on the internship of tourism students in the Municipality of Samokov. The emphasis is placed on the application of ChatGPT as a tool for route generation, tour text creation, itinerary planning, and support for research activities. The advantages of integrating artificial intelligence into the educational process are outlined, along with the challenges related to its use. The conclusion highlights the importance of critical literacy and creative approaches when applying technological tools in the training of future tourism professionals.
