Summary/Abstract: The article is a publication of archival materials related to the poetry of Dmitry Prigov. Dmitry Maximov, a well-known historian of Russian literature, makes extracts from Prigov’s unpublished poems and gives a brief review of these texts. Maximov’s notes are interesting not only as a fact of literary history. They are evidence of a complex reflection of another’s work in the established aesthetic system, which under hermetic Soviet conditions had acquired frozen and immobile (and therefore inflexible) forms. The published texts trace the process of individual perception of one creative person behind the text-generating process of another poet. Notes in the margins, corrected punctuation designed to make the text “traditional”, habitual — all this becomes a curious phenomenon of comprehension of new poetics through its rejection.
