Summary/Abstract: Forced marriages at an early age are one of the most important obstacles to women's empowerment today. Early forced marriages are a global problem for many different countries, cultures, religions and ethnicities. Worldwide, 12 million girls are married before the age of 18 each year. It is estimated that this figure will reach more than 150 million by 2030 unless preventive policies are put into effect. Early marriages, which is a very important problem for our country; Although it is tried to be prevented by the policies developed legally and institutionally, it continues to be widespread due to reasons such as the prevalence of patriarchal value judgments in legal regulations regarding the family, intrusive attitudes on the female body, and the meanings attributed to family integrity and privacy. On the other hand, early marriages are intergenerational, nourished by cultural practices. It is possible to see the most common example of this in Romani culture. Romani people, who are faced with multidimensional exclusion practices such as access to education, accommodation and employment, can be considered as the most disadvantaged group of the society. There is a strong tendency of the Roma to remain 'marginal' in terms of inclusion in the generally accepted culture or inclusion in the society, and their collective attitudes towards preserving their own authentic culture. In this study, Romani women who were married at an early age from YaylaDogu Neighborhoods in the center of Kırklareli, where the novels live intensely, from the Kuştepe District in the Lüleburgaz district, Turgutreis and Barış neighborhoods in Mersin city center were accepted as samples. In this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with 23 Romani women who were married at an early age. The data obtained as a result of the research were evaluated with the content analysis technique around the main themes extracted from the interviews within the scope of the qualitative research method. The study examines in depth the social and cultural dimensions of early marriages, particularly among Romani groups.
