Summary/Abstract: The emergence, features of formation and main stages of development of manuscript and printed albums are analyzed. The peculiar features of the origin and development of album publications, the formation and development of their genre and thematic features are highlighted. The species classification, functional purpose and features of the use of albums are characterized, as well as their prominent place and significance in the activities of libraries. The classification of album publications is highlighted, depending on their species affiliation and thematic direction. The peculiarity of the location and significant importance of the creation and use of “library albums” in the activities of the library and the coverage of the history of its development are clarified.
