Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the impact of the Otakar Ševčík method on amateur (recreational) violin education. While Ševčík exercises are widely established in professional training, this research specifically evaluates their contribution to the technical and musical skills of amateur students. The study employed a quantitative research design utilizing a "Single Group Pretest-Posttest Experimental Model." A 10-week instructional program (totaling 90 hours) based on Ševčík exercises was conducted with nine violin students (eight female, one male) from two different amateur music education institutions. Data were collected using a "Violin Performance Skills Observation Form." The results revealed statistically significant differences between the pretest and posttest scores, indicating that the Ševčík method is highly effective in enhancing the performance skills of amateur students. Specifically, the exercises contributed significantly to the development of both right-hand and left-hand techniques. These findings demonstrate that the Ševčík method, typically reserved for professional training, is also a valid and effective tool in amateur violin education. Consequently, this study recommends the extensive incorporation of Ševčík exercises into amateur curricula to foster technical and musical development.
