Summary/Abstract: The word βουλή famously appears in the Iliad poet’s above Invocation to the goddess that we all understand to be a Muse, who will give him insight into thoughts of other gods and conversations among them. So he claims to know not only that Zeus’ βουλή “was completed” but what it was. This completeness was not necessarily attained within the time frame of his following, i.e., from the visit of Chryses to the Achaean camp on the shore of Troy to the last day of Hector’s obsequies within and near Ilium some weeks later, but further weeks before the end of the ten-year war.
