Summary/Abstract: The article presents a short biographical outline of Mother Elżbieta Róża Czacka, with particular emphasis on those facts from life that directed her interests and activities for the benefi t of the blind. The turning point in Czacka’s life was the loss of her sight, which changed her life plans and contributed to many extremely important projects for people with disabilities. Attention was paid mainly to the concept of education, implemented in the institutions founded by Czacka, about the postulates of the developing trend of “new education”. The timeless dimension of her “Work” and educational postulates was emphasized, putting in the foreground the preparation of pupils for independent life and professional work, and consequently integration with society. The concept of education created by Czacka is still valid, and today, in the situation of intensive dissemination of inclusive education and social inclusion, it is of particular importance.
