Ballet Education Outside Ballet Centres: Experiences and Perspectives

Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of 100 years of ballet, the Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia organized an interdisciplinary scientific conference A Century of Ballet in Serbia: History and New Perspectives. Integrating both history and future outlooks, this paper discusses the establishment of a ballet school outside major ballet centers. It highlights the significance of forming smaller ballet schools as a crucial direction for the further development of ballet art in Serbia, emphasizing that basic ballet education is a prerequisite for a professional career and the artistry of ballet dancers.
