Study on the influence of cultural factors on financial literacy levels: Comparative evidence across the EU based on the Esping-Andersen classification

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyze the level of financial literacy in relation to cultural factors. To this end, a cluster analysis is conducted across the 27 EU Member States, using the dataset provided by the European Commission through Eurobarometer on July 18, 2023. The countries are grouped according to the criteria defined by Esping-Andersen regarding welfare state regimes. The analysis is expected to identify differences in financial literacy levels across the various clusters, differences that may be driven by cultural factors.
