Summary/Abstract: The article examines Homer’s classical epics as objects of both archival science, as a historical discipline, and cultural studies, as artefacts embodying spiritual values. The focus of the research is on the ways of perceiving the texts in their dual nature as both tangible and intangible monuments, with a specific role as carriers of meaning of a civilizational character. Excerpts from Homer’s “Odyssey” and “Iliad” from various sources are used as empirical material – fragments from inscriptions on stone, clay, ceramics, papyrus, parchment, and paper, as well as their screen adaptations from different years of the 20th and 21st centuries as part of humanity’s film archives. The research methodology is based on an interdisciplinary, cultural-historical approach through comparative and content analysis of linguistic and visual units.
