Summary/Abstract: Three archives – the Scientific Archive of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the so-called “Royal Archive” at the Military History Library of “Georgi Stoykov Rakovski” Military Academy, and the archive of the National Museum of Military History – Sofia, are the three main keys that can provide answers to a number of questions. Some of these questions are addressed in this text, such as: What was the nature of the developing professional music culture in Bulgaria after the Liberation? What art music was performed during the period from the late 19th to the late 1930s? What was its genre profile? Who were the composers whose works were performed by professional military brass bands?
