Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the changes of historical street names of Mátyásföld (a part of the capital, Budapest from 1950) in chronological order by setting up three periods. Major concern is given to the aims of changing the street names. The study analyses the interconnections of changes and explains why and how street name clusters have been developed. The investigation primarily focuses on the anterior constituents of street names, but posterior constituents and their changes are also treated.
