The founding myth of the regional television centre in Katowice in the light of archival documents

Summary/Abstract: The text concerns the construction of the regional television centre in Katowice.It was conducted between 1957 and 1968. The organisational activities were plannedand executed in state institutions. The first of these was the Ministry of Communica-tions and the second was the Committee for Radio Broadcasting “Polskie Radio”. Theactivities of these institutions about the construction of the regional television centrein Katowice are described based on legislation, archival documents and press, and bookpublications. An author confronts the historical description of the construction of theregional television centre in Katowice with the myth created by Stanisław Miszczak.
