Summary/Abstract: Blahoslav derives the needed moral character of the church ministers mainly from the catalogues in the pastoral epistles and stresses the advantage of unmarried state for the ministry. His advice for the communal life of ministers and candidates for ministry includes maintaining a reserved attitude toward women, exercising rational and spiritual control over one’s sensuality (which is vulnerable to evil passions), chastity in speech, submitting one another (especially the younger to the older), keeping regard to one’s conscience and living an exemplary Christian life in all areas. The aim of such conduct is to renew and correct the community of believers so that they live in accordance with apostolic commands.
