Summary/Abstract: The reflections presented in this text are based on my over thirty years of experience, ten of which were spent as director of the Andrzej Wawrzyniak Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw. Although interdisciplinary by design, due to the nature of its collections and activities, it has many characteristics of an ethnographic or ethnological museums. As an art historian who, over time, has expanded into the field of cultural anthropology, I have closely observed the dynamics within museums of this type in Poland, Europe, and parts of Asia. Through this experience, I offer my thoughts on the roles, tasks, and future directions for these institutions. These observations, shaped by years of museum practice and personal engagement, are not intended as theoretical or normative conclusions.
