Selected elements of the police procedure in situations of suspected domestic violence

Summary/Abstract: In the internal security system, the Police are the primary body responsible for public safety and order. For the benefit of citizens, it carries out statutory tasks, among others, in the field of “protection of life and health of people and property against unlawful attacks violating these goods”. For nearly thirty years, police officers have been creating and improving multi-stakeholder cooperation in preventing and combating domestic violence. During their daily duty, officers from the prevention division receive reports, carry out home interventions, carry out preventive activities, help victims and deal with perpetrators of violence in the home environment. Drawing on data possesed from the Police in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the analysis presents the scope of domestic violence and the extent of police officers’ involvement in the Blue Card procedure between 2019 and 2024.
