Summary/Abstract: Sexual offences are some of the most serious criminal offences, with severe consequences for both victims and society as a whole. These offences profoundly affect the physical, psychological and emotional integrity of the people involved, generating deep traumas that can persist in the long term and that significantly influence the mental health, well-being and relationship capacity of the victims. In addition, they undermine trust in social and legal institutions and affect the overall sense of security in the community. The category of crimes against sexual life encompasses a wide range of acts, from the most severe, such as rape and sexual assault committed by violence, to crimes involving the vulnerability of minors, such as sexual intercourse with persons under the age of 16, luring minors for sexual purposes or engaging them in perverse sexual acts. Also, sexual harassment, manifested by unwanted behaviors with sexual connotations, is a form of crime that seriously affects the life and dignity of the victims, generating a climate of fear and continuous discomfort. Overall, these facts illustrate the need for a rigorous and specialised approach to investigating them, as well as the importance of applying modern and effective methods to identify and protect victims.
