Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to identify the features of archetypal images and consider the issues of their representation in folk-stage choreography productions at the present stage. Research methodology. The method of scientific analysis and synthesis, the system and typological method, the method of art history analysis were applied. Scientific novelty. The issues of representation of archetypes in folk-stage choreography productions were considered; the concepts of ‘archetypes’ and ‘archetypal images’, as well as their typology, were clarified; the features of embodiment and plastic solutions of archetypal images of natural (Earth, Water, Fire, Wind), cosmogonic, solar, zoomorphic, and ornithomorphic elements were analysed. Conclusions. Archetypal images not only occupy a significant place in the ancient mythological representations of different peoples, but also received a voluminous reflection in folk and stage choreography – in various productions belonging to different eras and national schools of choreographic art. This demonstrates the universality, significance and scale of the spread and multifaceted manifestation of archetypal images in folk and stage choreography. Mythological symbols that make up the mythostructure of any work of art in general and folk and stage choreography in particular are a reflection of the elements of the primary worldview and world perception, the fundamental among which are archetypal images associated with primitive representations and natural phenomena. Their use in productions of folk and stage choreography occurs in the process of creating mythologems – the basis for the formation of new symbols. Modern choreographers-directors recreate the holistic worldview and worldview of different peoples of the world through the prism of their belief systems, national traditions, and ritual culture by means of embodying archetypal images. In addition, archetypes are used as movement metaphors, symbols, and images to enhance the experience of movement and convey the experience of space to the recipient.
