Summary/Abstract: Th is article is the fi rst attempt to workwith the historical notes from all 12 volumes of“Geographical and Statistical Description of theParishes of the Kingdom of Poland” by KarolPerthées as a historical source on the late-18th--century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Itpresents a statistical analysis of the notes, theirclassifi cation, and how they are refl ected in KarolPerthées’s maps. Additionally, the article explorescultural memory among the elites and the parishclergy at the end of the 18th century.Keywords: parish sketches, Karol
