Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the current problem of multidisciplinary education. The purpose of the study is to review and consider the concept of interdisciplinarity in the light of holism. The article highlights the need for a holistic approach in education and presents the author's opinion on the main principles of teaching a foreign language from a holistic perspective. To achieve this goal, the author distinguishes between the concepts of "interdisciplinarity" (or "interdisciplinary") and "cross-curricular connections" or "integrative approach" within a holistic framework. The article examines the essence and role of the interdisciplinary lesson, which aims to overcome the fragmentation of students' knowledge in contemporary Russian and Bulgarian pedagogy. It also discusses the methodological basis of interdisciplinary learning, characterized by diversity and the simultaneous use of different teaching methods and technologies. Examples of the use of specific methods and their interdisciplinary basis are provided. The article further addresses the concept of understanding, where the world is perceived holistically and learning is constructed accordingly – in accordance with the laws of nature and reflecting the interconnectedness of life’s phenomena. The features of holistic educational tasks are discussed. The article also provides an overview of modern secondary school education in Bulgaria from the perspective of interdisciplinarity and holism. Special attention is given to the author's vision of teaching a foreign language through holism. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of addressing complex pedagogical and methodological problems and implementing the principles of interdisciplinarity and holism in the development of language learning programs in Bulgarian secondary schools.
