Summary/Abstract: This article follows the use of the verb endings -е/-етъ, which the Shumen- born and Varna Revival public figure Rali Hadji Mavridov used to form the 1st person singular and 3rd person plural present tense of verbs from the 2nd New Bulgarian conjugation (4th Old Bulgarian), and their distribution over the other New Bulgarian conjugations. The source of the study was 8 letters that Mavridov wrote to Konstantin Fotinov in 1843. For the purpose of the study, from the documents were extracted all examples in the 1st person singular and the 3rd person plural from the 1st and the 2nd New Bulgarian conjugations. Few examples from the 3rd conjugation we also added, but in general, those endings are not typical for the conjugation. Thus, the 28 verbs with 66 examples in total from all three conjugations showеd that the presence of -е/-етъ requires one of the two following morphological features before the ending: a soft consonant or an iota. For convenience, the verbs with their examples were divided into several subgroups depending on the connection between the Old Bulgarian and the New Bulgarian conjugation. It becomes clearer that the verbs from the New Bulgarian 2nd conjugation (Old Bulg. 4th) and those of today’s 1st (from Old Bulg. 3rd) almost without exception form the two grammatical forms in question with -е/-етъ, since the softness or the presence of an iota before the ending are historical characteristics. Opposite to this, the verbs from today’s 1st (from Old Bulg. 1st and 2nd) conjugation, as well as the New Bulgarian 3rd (in general), where the two mentioned morphological threats are not typical, have the endings - а/-атъ.
