Summary/Abstract: The rules for applying for a passport document for a minor are regulated in the Act of 13 November 2022 on passport documents. As in the case of adults, the child must be a Polish citizen, present a photo that meets the statutory requirements, and pay a fee for obtaining the document. Current times are characterized by a large number of complicated legal family situations for minors. It is often difficult for the passport authority to determine the persons who consent to a passport for a child. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the minor’s birth certificate and also court decisions regarding parental authority. It may also be necessary to apply to the court for rectification of the decision if it is difficult to determine the scope of limitation of parental authority.
