The Use of Elements of Artificial Intelligence in Public Safety and Order Based on the Example of the Intelligent Monitoring and Analysis System of Katowice

Summary/Abstract: Video monitoring systems, including urban monitoring, are currently one of the most frequently used tools to influence public safety and order. Elements of artificial intelligence are increasingly used in modern systems with the aim of providing support for systems operators, allowing for automatic image analysis. The objective of the research was to examine the scale as well as the effectiveness of the use of an urban monitoring system equipped with artificial intelligence elements on the example of the Intelligent Monitoring and Analysis System of Katowice. During the research process, methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis of statistical data were used. The research confirmed the effectiveness and legitimacy of the use of artificial intelligence elements in CCTV systems. The use of these technologies is an inevitable element of the evolution of the system of security and public order.
