Summary/Abstract: The article examines the pivotal role of Jack Tramiel in the development of Atari and Commodore computers, highlighting his extraordinary life story – from surviving Auschwitz during World War II to becoming a key figure in the computer industry. Tramiel’s influence remains evident to this day, as his introduction of affordable personal computers, such as the Commodore PET and VIC-20, as well as the iconic Commodore 64 – one of the best-selling computers in history – sparked a revolution in making computing technology widely accessible. Unfortunately, despite his immense contribution to the development of Silicon Valley in the 1980s, Tramiel has been largely overlooked by contemporary researchers in the fields of leadership and IT industry management. This paper presents an interdisciplinary research study that draws on various social science disciplines, including management and quality sciences, political science and administration, sociology, and psychology. By its very nature, the topic also aligns with contemporary analyses at the intersection of business psychology and management, serving as a foundation for broader reflections on leadership styles of figures such as Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and more recent leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
