Summary/Abstract: In Romanian popular culture, weddings are special occasions, steeped in traditions and customs that are passed down from generation to generation. Among the oldest wedding traditions are wedding chants, a custom that adds a special charm to this special event in family life. These chants are full of meaning, have various roles, and convey emotion, joy, and lessons for everyone involved. This study aims to highlight the verses recited especially when the bride leaves her parents’ home, when the groom leaves his family, or when the parents welcome the new family. Further research will complement this study with an analysis of all types of shouts recited at various moments during a traditional wedding.
