Summary/Abstract: The paper entitled ”Oikonyms and oronyms of zoomorphic origin in the Zenica basin” analyzes the oikonyms and oronyms of Zenica, which are motivated by animal species in their naming process. The focus of the paper is on the oikonyms and oronyms of the narrower and wider area of the city of Zenica, which includes all urban, suburban and rural settlements. Each oikonym, which is the subject of the analysis, will be presented in a way that offers its location, then its first appearance through the censuses along with the demographic structure of the population, with a focus on the etymology of the appellations and the formation pattern. In order to ensure scientific foundation and precision, the paper relies on verified, contemporary sources. In this sense, an extremely important role was played by the City Service for General Administration and Local Communities of Zenica, which, at the request of the author of the paper, submitted the latest revised lists of settlements in the area of the city of Zenica. The above lists represent an official, valid and updated database, and as such are considered professional and relevant material for scientific research into the toponymy of the city of Zenica, and working with all the data offered represents a significant contribution to the so far poorly researched toponymy of the Zenica basin.
